IRONMAN IRELAND – Cork 2022 – Youghal is now a 3-Day Event – in fact it is going to be a sheer extravaganza and celebration of athleticism and well………… we just cant wait!.   The weekend presents:

  • A Full IRONMAN – Sunday  14th Aug.
  • 70.30 / half IRONMAN – Saturday 13th Aug
  • IRONKIDS – Friday – 12th Aug

The new run course takes in more of Youghal,  town thus creating a more atmospheric run experience. Great for supporters!

Sunday FULL IRONMAN

This race offers  qualifying slots to the IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i.

The four-loop 42.2 km (26.2 mile) run course is the highlight of IRONMAN IRELAND -Cork.  Athletes run through the centre of this historical town of Youghal, taking in the Harbour and the famous Youghal Clock Gate Tower.  This is an ideal supporters hotspot giving athletes the opportunity to enjoy the encouragement and cheers from their supporters all the way to the finish line at the buzzing Market Square.

 

 

SWIM
Starting at the popular sandy Front Strand Beach, athletes will complete the swim course in the Celtic Sea. With Youghal lighthouse as the backdrop, athletes will get a true feel for the destination right from the start before cycling through Ireland’s Ancient East Coast.

 

 

 

CYCLE
The two-lap 180.2 km (112 mile) bike course heads straight out into the rolling Irish countryside with a combination of flat and undulating roads.  The course takes athletes through Youghal and the infamous Windmill Hill. Improvements to existing course with route changes, overall faster route
New scenic coastal section through East Ferry
Overall elevation reduced from 1900m
Better located Aid Stations

Saturday 13th Aug 2022  –  70.30 (½ IRONMAN)
This race offers qualifying slots to the  IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship.

 


SWIM
   Starting at the popular sandy Front Strand Beach, athletes will complete the 1.9km (1.2 miles) single-lap swim course in the Celtic Sea. The two lap 21.1 km (13.1 mile) run course is the highlight of this event.  Side Event

IRONKIDS – is a FUN event, starting at 5.00pm   Friday 12 August

This run-only event will feature short race distances with the emphasis on fun and participation, all designed to encourage children towards a healthy and active lifestyle.



AGE GROUP

DISTANCE

Age 4 – 6 500m***
Age 7 – 11 1km
Age 12 – 15 1.5km

 

  • ***Must run with a parent or guardian 

 

 

  • All children will start in waves according to their age group.
  • Children must start in their age category; they cannot run with children outside of their age group.
  • There may be several wave starts for each age group.  The organizers will attempt to allocate children in the same entry, to the same start, if they are in the same age group.

All updates and any necessary changes to these details will be advised in a timely manner.
