Race Route 2020

New and more exciting route for 2020..Yet – anything is possible….

With the support of Cork County Council, IRONMAN Ireland has announced that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 IRONMAN Ireland – Cork event, scheduled to take place in Youghal on June 21st will NOT go ahead this year. However, the date for the 2021 IRONMAN Ireland, Cork has been announced for August 15th 2021.

However, for information purposes, we leave the proposed 2020 Race Route for any of you athletes out there who may wish to investigate or try out same at your leisure!

There will be a brand new, single-lap Swim section, starting at the Front Strand and finishing just beside Youghal Lighthouse.  Click here for  Swim Course    Map.

While still a largely similar to 2019’s bike course,  some updates and improvements to the entire course have been made, making it a faster overall route.  There will be a new scenic coastal section through Saleen (45km/165km)  The overall elevation is reduced from 1900m to 1700m.  The now infamous Windmill Hill is still on the route – oh boy!!!
Also there will be more toilet facilities available on the course.  Click here for Bike Route Map

A  new run course is also on the map, taking in more of Youghal town and thus creating a more atmospheric run experience for both athlete and spectators.   This is absolutely fantastic for the supporters and boy do we have supporters!  Click  Run Course  for Map

This is all so exciting and we just can’t wait for the longest day of the year 21st June 2020.
