The primary aim of the East Cork Further Education and Youthreach Centre is to prepare learners for progression to employment or further education through the provision of full-time and part-time courses from level 1 to 5 on the National Qualifications Framework. Past students have benefited from acquiring new skills and knowledge, gaining confidence and progression to employment and further education including entry to University and/or the Institutes of Higher Education.
East Cork Further Education and Youthreach Centre has an excellent team of tutors who deliver professional training in a supportive environment. The Staff meet with each applicant to ensure they are placed on the course that best meets their needs.
East Cork Further Education and Youthreach Centre welcomes mature applicants, as well as school leavers, to apply for all courses. People of all abilities and disabilities are welcome to ECFE & Youthreach Centre. It is fully wheel chair accessible and will accommodate individual needs as far as is practicable.
Cork ETB is increasing the number of further education and training programmes we have on offer at the East Cork Further Education and Youthreach Centre again this year. Cork Training Centre will run an ITEC Beauty Therapy Traineeship. We will continue to run our very successful post Leaving Certificate course in Healthcare Support, our updated Hospitality, Heritage and Tourism course as well as a Childcare course. These courses are all full time and prepare participants for direct entry to the labour market.
The Gateway course would be an ideal option for anyone who missed out on doing their leaving certificate and would like to improve their skills before selecting a more specific training option.
There are also a number of part-time options that provide an introduction to specific areas of training including our Art course: Drawing, Painting and Textiles and our Introduction to Beauty / Pharmacy Sales course. A high percentage of our past learners on these courses have progressed on to further education following completion of these courses, feeling more confident and capable. The Retail Skills course has been very successful in preparing participants for working in the Retail area.
Cathy O’Mahony co-ordinates a range of courses at a foundation level including Communications, Maths and Computers as well as English for Speakers of Other Languages.
Youthreach provides a programme of integrated general education, vocational training and work experience for unemployed early school leavers aged 16-20.
