The 2016 Cork County Council Anti-Litter League results have been announced and we are delighted to report that Youghal is doing very nicely indeed – just pipped at the post for 1st position in our category.
The purpose of the challenge and competition is to increase the awareness within communities of Litter Pollution and to put the solutions to the problem in the hands of the communities themselves. The 2016 results, placing Youghal at just 3/10 of one mark behind the winner in our category, is certainly very encouraging and demonstrates the strong and diligent community commitment to the cause into the future.
“The competition is a prime example of how local authorities, working closely with the local community, can achieve a common goal – the reduction of Litter Pollution and making our town a cleaner place to live” said Helen Mulcahy of East Cork Municipal District. The anti -litter challenge league results for Youghal are excellent and credit has to be given to all those who work tirelessly in achieving these results – a special mention has to go to the outdoor staff of East Cork Municipal District and the Youghal Tidy Towns Group. With our continued individual and community determination, our anti-litter objective will be achieved and maintained into the future”.
