We are thrilled to see preservation and restoration works continue at Youghal’s 13th century Town Walls. Works are undertaken with the support The Irish Town Walls Network, under the auspices of The Heritage Council, ensuring the structure and integrity of this magnificent structure and heritage site.
Dating back to at least 1250 and built to preserve and protect our Town, Youghal Town Walls, are the most intact and complete Town Walls in the Irish Republic. Approximately 12-feet high and 4 feet wide these walls surround our Medieval Town from Myrtle Grove, once home to Sir, Walter Raleigh Quarter, running west and curving south to the Iconic Clock Gate.
