A new community initiative bringing together musicians from Armagh, Louth, Meath and Monaghan creating a new orchestra performing arrangements of Irish Traditional Music. The Oriel Traditional Orchestra will perform repertoire from and inspired by the Oriel region with new compositions by members and local composers as well as historical compositions.
The orchestra has already begun performing in the community and has established links with Dundalk Institute of Technology, the Traditional Arts Partnership and some local branches of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann. They were delighted to welcome Ceolta Sí from Youghal, to join them for their inaugural performance in Dunleer last December.
With over 80 musicians in unison this evening of traditional music will be extremely popular with seating limited to 200 persons. Log on to Bru na Si for further details
This event is supported by the Department of Culture Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
