A Portuguese Man O’War jellyfish has been found on the Mall Beach in Youghal. These jellyfish can inflict severe stings – therefore contact should be avoided at all costs. Helen Mulcahy of East Cork Municipal District advises all people using the beaches in the area to exercise extreme caution. “Cork County Council staff are currently searching all of the beaches locally to ensure that there are no more of these washed up. In the event that you do locate one please contact Cork County Council offices on 024-92926 immediately and appropriate action will be taken”.
