West Cork based Community Musician, Caz Jeffreys, well known producer of a host of creative community-driven and private project events is bringing 2 very exciting Singing workshops to Youghal on Wednesday 24th July.
From 1-2pm there will be a Family Music Workshop held in the Methodist Hall on Friar Street. This workshop is aimed at parents and children between 4-10 years old and is designed as a fun learning opportunity for building confidence and developing musical skills together. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and all adults are expected to join in with the activities! An entrance fee of €5 per person is being asked to help cover expenses.
From 4-6pm, Caz will be leading a Harmony Singing Workshop in Celtic Folk Song. This is part of the programme organised by the Youghal Creative Cultural Pop Up Shop running from 114, North Main Street over the months of July and August. Adults and young people who love to sing are welcome to come along and enjoy learning these harmony-filled songs in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. No previous experience or ability to read music is needed as Caz teaches with a ‘call and response’ approach, making it easy for everyone to join in. This workshop is free of charge.
Cazs’ passion is to encourage singing as an activity for community and personal wellbeing….to create opportunities for bringing people together to enjoy the benefits music and singing can bring us. She is the creator and leader of the West Cork Big Sing Project – Singing for Community Wellbeing, which has brought many groups and individuals together in song at a variety of festivals and venues in the area. Caz leads choirs, workshops, and training in singing and leadership skills as well as running events with guest facilitators.
