As one of the venues associated with the Cork International Choral Festival, Yew Wood Venues is thrilled to bring Choeur Azimuts to St. Mary’s Collegiate Church, Youghal, Co. Cork.
Choeur Azimuts is a young adult choir based in Lille in the North of France. Founded in 2013 by Madeleine Saur, its current director, the choir comprises about 30 singers. Azimuts’s repertoire is a mix of contemporary choral music and revisited traditional music. The choir performs 2-3 times a year in the north of France and Belgium. This is their first visit to Cork
Azimuts is now focusing on its new programme “Old Irish Stories”, dedicated to contemporary Irish composers; Tarik O’Regan, Michael Mc Glynn and Sean Doherty. In this program, Azimuts will present some Irish tales figuring green landscapes, lost loves, legends and dragons.
