The Mall Arts Centre is thrilled to bring you “The Woman is Present: Women’s Stories of WW11” presented by Smashing Times Theatre and Film Company.
“The Woman is Present: Women’s Stories of WW11” is a creative re-imagining of moments from the lives of women during WW11, recalling stories of bravery, sacrifice and love amidst the horror of war, as women stood up against Fascism and totalitarianism and refused to accept oppression. The performance is followed by a post- show discussion with the artists and invited guest speakers to explore powerful women’s stories in history and themes of gender equality and peace.
Written by the acclaimed award-winning playwrights Mary Moynihan, Deirdre Kinahan, Fiona Bawn Thompson and Paul Kennedy, “The Woman is Present: Women’s Stories of WW11” is directed by Mary Moynihan and Bairbre Ni Chaoimh.
Cast: Roisin Mc Atamney and Fiona Bawn Thompson with Margaret Toomey, Ella Brady and Romana Testasecca featuring on film.
Guest speaker on the night, Clodagh Finn, is a feature writer, editor, trainer and author. Clodagh will speak about her book “A Time to Rise”, the incredible untold story of Mary Elmes, the Irish woman who saved children from the Nazi concentration camps.
