Mary is a professional contemporary landscape artist, working and living on the South Coast of Ireland and draws inspiration for her wonderful work from our amazing seas, diverse marine life, and spectacular array of birdlife.
A native of Youghal, Co Cork, Mary fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a full-time artist in 2019. Mary frequently takes off on painting trips to Fanore and Ballyvaughan, the Aran Islands and the Burren in Co. Clare.
A self-taught artist, drawing and painting since childhood, Mary studied art while at school and has attended courses in art colleges, workshops, and trained with Irish and International artists. She has taken part in local and national exhibitions over many years and held 2 successful solo exhibitions in 2021.
This artist creates energetic landscapes and abstract seascapes in oils, acrylic and mixed media, interpreting nature in vibrant colours, tones and textures. Her love of the sea is reflected through her paintings and is evident in her abstract and landscape collections. She uses sand, shells, sea glass and corals in her mixed media paintings. Her contemporary art highlights the uniqueness of our amazing natural world and our need to protect it for future generations to enjoy.
Mary believes that our busy world needs art everywhere in order for us to stop, see and appreciate our diverse and wonderful world.
