The Youghal Ailbrin Society presents an illustrated talk by John Finn on
“Charles Stewart Parnell & Katherine O Shea A Scandalous Affair”
Charles Stewart Parnell was a towering figure in the political life of the1880s. He fought in the British parliament for land reform and succeeded in getting Home Rule on the agenda of the government. His tenure as leader of the Irish parliamentary party came to an end after the revelations of his 10-year adulterous affair with Katharine O’Shea.
John’s presentation will touch on the main parts of Parnell’s life but will concentrate on his affair with Katharine O’ Shea.
Youghal native John has long been an admirer of Parnell and this presentation will bring a greater knowledge of the Charles Steward Parnell and his achievements.
