As part of the Cork International Choral Festival, the combined Israeli choirs, the Arad Choir and the Ma’alot-Kfar Vradim Choir will perform at St. Mary’s Collegiate Church, Youghal, Co.Cork. These two prestigious choirs with their melodious sound and aided by the outstanding acoustics in St. Mary’s Medieval Church will certainly raise the the sound barrier at the Church and indeed will raise our hearts with song, sound and sweetness.
Cork International Choral Festival was founded in 1954 to be a dynamic force in developing choral music in Ireland, the Festival is held annually over the five days and welcomes choirs from across the world for a programme of Gala concerts, Schools Concerts, National and International Competitions, and world-class performances. Cork International Choral Festival is noted for its high standards, eclectic and wide-ranging programme, and the friendliness of its welcome. Youghal, with its wonderful following of choral music will be testament to this welcome.
The Arad Choir was founded in 1974 by the late composer, Joseph Hadar. Arad, a town in the southern part of Israel, is the host of the “Hebrew Song Festival,” which takes place each summer. The Choir is an official activity of the city of Arad. As such, it participates in many formal community events as well as some national events such as the annual Holocaust Day Ceremony as well as events at the Israeli President’s Residence
The Ma’alot-Kfar Vradim Choir was founded in 1984. The Choir participates in local concerts given during holidays and other public celebrations. Within Israel it also frequently sings with other choirs as well as performing for communities with special needs, such as old-age homes.
